Personal responsibility - to kill goat heads!

I have taken it on as my mission to eradicate all the goat heads on Shaw Mountain Road. Last summer I harvested 7 huge trash bags of mature plants, with hundreds or thousands of mature seeds ready to fall off. This is the street between the old Armory and the Fort Boise Dog park, West of the Girl Scout office. There were a few areas I didn't get, like halfway up the embankment by the dog park. I figure that three years of harvesting will really thin them out, if not extinctify them. I'll hit it again in fall, when the grasses are dry but the goat heads are green, right after a rain so the soil is soft, and they will pull out easily. With luck I will see some result of my last summer work.

This is about a 4 block hotspot of goat heads, on a popular bike route. If each cyclist took on a one block section, or a quarter mile section on the greenbelt, I think it would make a big difference in the number of flats we get, and not really be too much work. I challenge you DF (diamond frame) riders to match a recumbent trike rider (me) in goat head harvesting!
