Spring Bike Counts

The Treasure Valley Cycling Alliance (TVCA) is recruiting volunteers to collect data as part of a bi-annual effort to assess the number of riders in the county. We are still planning on counting this May because you can easily respect social distancing while counting bikes and pedestrians. We recognize that this is a unique time and an opportunity to capture what is happening on our streets.

The more data gathered on how cyclists and pedestrians use roads and pathways, the more we can improve the safety and enjoyment of the cycling network in the Treasure Valley. This effort has already begun to help more than half a dozen other agencies and non-profit organizations guide their decisions around cycling.

So here's how to participate.

  1. Pick a location and time (7-9am or 4-6pm - some spots only have one or the other) here: https://www.givepulse.com/group/events/238806
  2. Review the online presentation here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xZb2xHHajPzj1e_uDovKr5DHWoWcK_bx/view
  3. Use this data sheet to collect your bike and ped. counts: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-onD4i-l7iPdmpVODVwa1d4bTg/view?usp=sharing
    • Extra credit for pedestrians - see the presentation for directions on counting.
  4. Pick a day between May 12th - 14th to count at your selected location and time (AM/PM)
  5. Bring water, sun hat, chair, multiple pencils, something hard to write on and a smile
  6. Email a scanned tallied results to Adabikecounts@gmail.com

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
